The Academy of Realness Works-on-Paper

14 Large Scale Works-on-Paper from 2009-2012 plus 3 detail shots

These 14 pieces run 40 inches by 60 inches except for Goddess II, 2012  which runs about 2/3s bigger and Orgy, 2011 runs a bit smaller. They are from a series of 60 or so I started in 2008 or maybe it was 2009.

They are meant to be large scale collages mixed with painting elements and inspired by the graffiti and wheat paste culture I experienced living in the east village downtown area of the time. I used a lot of drawings that had been piling up in my one bedroom apartment which doubled as my studio which later was anointed The Academy of Realness because of all the parties and traffic that pass through it along the way.

I mixed auction catalog images, ink jet copies of my smaller sketches/doodles and newspaper clippings as well as oversized xerox copies from the nearby FEDEX (the old KINKOS on Astor Place) to develop my style and mixed autobiography and myth to create content.
